South Florida's Bright Tourism Outlook Spurs Hospitality Construction Boom

South Florida’s construction industry has rebounded strongly in the last few years due largely in part to a strong economy and growth in tourism.  In fact, tourism grew by 5% in 2014 and is projected to increase by another 6% in 2015 according to visitflorida.org.

This has lead to a boom in the hospitality construction market with a number of national hotel chains setting plans to expand their portfolios within the South Florida market.  According to a recent Sun Sentinel report, there are several hospitality chains poised to begin construction or are already underway with construction throughout South Florida that cater to all economic levels.  Some of these new projects include:

  •             Runway Resorts, Hollywood (opening 2015)
  •             Tryp by Wyndham Maritime, Fort Lauderdale (March 2016)
  •             Aloft-Element, Fort Lauderdale (July 2017)
  •             Aloft, Delray Beach (January 2018)
  •             Element, Miami Doral
  •             AC Hotel by Marriott, Miami Beach
  •             Hyatt Centric, Miami Beach
  •             Aloft, South Beach
  •             Margaritaville, Hollywood

Hospitality Construction For The Target Market

Understanding the target audience for each location is critical in the design and development process of any hospitality project. That is why it is vital to hire professionals that understand the vision and can translate that vision into a functional and profitable venture. Hiring contractors with the right skills, expertise and approach, is not only critical to the success of the hospitality project but it plays a vital role in delivering on time and on budget.

StoreTech+co's Most Recent Hospitality Projects include:

·         JW Marriott Gift Shop & Sushi Bar

·         Marriott World Center – Lobby Gift Shop & Starbucks

·         Loews Hotel- Cabanas

·         Post Card Inn, Islamorada

JW Marriott - Gift Shop & Sushi Bar

StoreTech+co re-designed three separate spaces and created a singular larger space increasing the size of the hotel’s gift and sundry shop, enhancing guest experience and convenience with its extended offerings.

For the Sushi Bar, we converted a sitting area on the lobby level into an inviting, casual and unique area to meet colleagues and friends.  Based upon the space limitations and goals of this space, StoreTech+co created a sushi bar, rich onyx with backlighting, custom, flexible storage shelving, and state of the art LED lighting.  The space has already become a favorite for meeting attendees and guests.

Marriott World Center - Gift Shop & Starbucks

On this particular project,StoreTech+co was challenged to take an existing gift shop and remove a good portion of the square footage to allow for a re-allocation of the lobby space. The team worked to incorporate the large hotel’s overall style and truly showcase the retail store to allow them to achieve the same or greater revenue within a much smaller space. For Starbucks, StoreTech+co converted a portion of the retail space and created a food and beverage retail space.  We provided the architectural drawings, installed the fixtures and created a fresh new, inviting, space for gathering and enjoying a light bite and some coffee.

Lowe's Pool Cabana's

StoreTech+co completed this brand new construction project of the pool cabanas with a second story sundeck, which incorporated all high end materials to create a luxurious environment and meet all of Loews standards.  StoreTech+co had the opportunity of working with the city and historic department developing plans and obtaining approvals to move forward with the strict requirements.

Post Card Inn, Islamorada

StoreTech+co is designing and sourcing for the owners as we create three unique new spaces.  The apparel shop is called The Splendid Hanger; The general store is renamed – The Boathouse and The Bait and Tackle shop is transforming into Abel’s.
